Jalalaqsi, (insidesomalia.org)-Forces loyal to armed factions who are based in parts of the central Somali region of Hiiraan captured the administration units of Jalalaqsi District Wednesday nights night.
These forces did not meet any challenge from forces loyal to the Hiiraan regional administration which was based there in Jalalaqsi before them.
However, the whereabouts of the Hiiraan regional administration forces are unkown. An area resident, Ali Osman Ghelle, who spoke with Shabelle, said that the troops which entered the town of Jalalaqsi last night have taken over the Jalalaqsi police station and the bridge as well as other places in the district.
He added that the situation in the town of Jalalqsi is currently calm.
"Forces loyal to the Union of Islamic Courts armed with about 10 techicals [battle wagons] captured the police base last evening.
He said “They have also seized a Toyota landcruiser vehicle. No, there were no fighting at all and they (UIC forces) captured the town peacefully.
He also told that they were not talking to people, but they were currently repairing the car they captured and they were in the town peacefully and there are no problems,
The town of Jalalaqsi in Hiiraan Region is one of the latest towns captured by forces opposed to the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia.
However, several towns in central Somalia were only briefly seized by these forces in the past before they made the decision to pull out.
